Healing trauma through Psychodrama on March 8-17, 2024
“Trauma is not the story of something that happened back then, It’s the current imprint of that pain, horror, and fear living inside people.”….“Talk therapy alone isn’t enough to treat trauma…..”-Bassel Van Der Kolk (Trauma Specialist).
In psychodrama, individuals can explore trauma and childhood issues by enacting scenes from their past, allowing them to step into the roles of significant people or moments. Through role reversal, they gain new perspectives and insights, fostering empathy and understanding towards themselves and others involved. Techniques like doubling and soliloquy provide space for inner dialogue and emotional expression. By engaging creatively and actively with their past experiences, individuals can uncover buried emotions, process unresolved feelings, and begin the healing journey towards integration and self-discovery.
Psychodrama offers a dynamic, experiential approach to trauma resolution, fostering emotional catharsis and personal growth.Psychodrama stands out among healing modalities for trauma with its experiential approach, utilizing role-play and group dynamics to delve into past experiences. Unlike traditional talk therapy, it offers a dynamic, embodied exploration that can lead to profound insights and emotional release. While therapies like cognitive-behavioral therapy focus on thought patterns, psychodrama emphasizes the holistic integration of emotions, cognition, and behavior, fostering deeper healing and transformation.
Psychodrama promotes:
1. Healthy brain function.
2. Healing of past traumas through role-play.
3. Empathy in participants.
4. strengthening of family relationships and support networks.
5. Addressing behavioral issues stemming from substance abuse.
6. Encouraging a multi-dimensional understanding of situations.
7. Confronting unresolved emotions.
